Pastoral Care

Our school prides itself on providing exceptional pastoral care for every student. In the words of a former headmistress, Dame Kitty Anderson, ‘everyone matters’. Our pastoral care is focused on individual support for each pupil, developing resilience and a sense of perspective, so that they are able to tackle challenges head-on, learn from setbacks, and have the confidence to try again if things don’t work out initially. Fundamental to the NLCS ethos, we believe that by supporting students in all aspects of their lives and removing any barriers to learning, they will reach their full potential. 

All of our teachers and staff understand that they have a part to play in the social and emotional wellbeing of our students. Each member of our faculty has a pastoral responsibility to help students flourish and to encourage them to take advantage of everything the school has to offer. Equal value is placed on academic and non-academic achievements. Students are celebrated for who they are and thrive as they discover their individual talents.
